Dear DV Classmates! before coming to Harvard Kennedy School, my wife Brune and I helped create People for Global Transformation (PGT) a high-level international working group co-chaired by Sam Pitroda (father of the telecom revolution in India and Former Advisor to Indian Prime Minister on Innovation and IT) and Hubert Védrine (former French Foreign Affairs Minister). PGT centers on how to bring about a generational shift in policy thinking to respond to the 21st century challenges and particularly focuses on the changing geopolitical equations and the transformative potential of technology. Fifteen global leaders are already part of this initiative. The group has identified sustainable urbanization as a key focus area and dedicated its last meeting to the concept of Intelligent Cities. As a result, we have decided to cooperate with interested Mayors to design and deploy a limited set of pilot projects across the world, and preferably in emerging/developing countries where the challenges are the most acute. We have assembled a list of Mayors that we will start contacting soon to initiate a dialogue with the aim of organizing a meeting in Boston next year. We are looking for one to two people who could be interested in helping us in this endeavor. Let us know if you would like to join or even if you have any idea/suggestion.
