Dear Dr. J. Erik Busby, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of year! It causes me to pause and look around and remember the people and things I am thankful for. One of the people, who I am most grateful for, is YOU! One year ago today, my husband, Michael, was diagnosed by you with advanced prostate cancer. He called me at work and told me the bad news over the phone. We were both very shaken and wanted to drop everything we were doing and collapse. After that, I was in a fog. I felt numb as we went through the motions of office visits, tests, results, surgery and the follow-up appointment. I can’t really explain it. Unfortunately, while I was in denial of all the bad things that we were going through, I overlooked all the blessings that came with it: the love and care and generosity of others. So, this year, on the anniversary of that fateful day, I want to say “Thank you” to you (and all of those who work alongside you at GHS) for your knowledge and skill, for your care and support, and for being a tool in the hand of God, Who spared my husband’s life.
