Dear Facebook. When you saw this pop-up at the top of your News Feed about stopping Ebola, did you think even for a moment of what it is about? Or did you simply post a status saying OMG this is so annoying!? Because I think you need to know a few things. The first is that the only thing more annoying than that pop-up is you complaining about it. The second is that Ebola is a deadly disease that has claimed thousands of victims. These people die agonizing deaths. Now while this may not directly affect you, due to the fact that you live a privileged life in Australia where you have access to clean water, fresh food, a bed to sleep in, a roof over your head, and access to expert medical care, would you take a moment and just imagine what is actually happening. How dare you say that a single pop-up is annoying. You were fine posting a video of yourself dumping cold water on your head for likes, even though you had no idea what ALS actually was or how it destroys peoples lives. You were fine with posting those one hundred like for a like statuses that spammed my news feed. Somehow, because there is no fad with this, because there is no cute cat gif, or video with moving music of people getting saved, you suddenly feel entitled to say that you hate a tiny ask for money to save someones life, and potentially, your own? Shut up.
