Dear Faculty and Staff, as you may know, voters in the ACC District today approved two bond propositions that will fund $386 million in new construction and renovation of existing campuses. The successful bond referendum means there are several exciting projects ahead. We will begin formulating concrete plans for the projects funded through the bond measures, and we will keep you and the community updated on our progress. At the same time, a proposal to increase the college’s maintenance & operations (M&O) tax cap was voted down by a narrow margin. Though we are disappointed with the M&O results, we appreciate voters’ approval of the bond propositions and the confidence they have placed in us. It is time to get to work. My own personal note is that PEOPLE are what make a business work as in that WE the PEOPLE are what make ACC a great place for everyone in the community to get a fair education with out ridiculous tuition as in some institutions. So please make a note that all those teachers that are helping you make your life better for a future are made up of 90 percent Adjuncts. Adjuncts Not full time employees but Adjuncts make up the majority of the teachers at ACC. I love to teach. As much as I love to create. AND I am sad to say that recently I have heard rumors that hours will be cut down for teachers. I hope this is not the case. Since after reading this message sent out by our President of ACC it appears that money has been allocated for buildings. Lets put the priorities of People for the People FIRST. Thank you !
