Dear Fellow Hobbyists, These past few days I was saddened by - TopicsExpress

Dear Fellow Hobbyists, These past few days I was saddened by what happened between me and some of the people who I consider as friends. I realized that despite all my noble intentions, in this RC hobby/business, I can still be projected (intentionally or unintentionally) as a greedy, money starving, blood sucking person who has no concern for the economic welfare of fellow hobbyists. I now feel that I should let you know who I am. I am a product of the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. I was an associate of several law firms, one of them was with the law firm of the late Haydee Yorac. While I was a lawyer, I became a bicycle advocate. I bought around 10 bicycles and sold them at cost and on installment to our janitors, security guards and messengers so that they can save money on transportation and at the same time be physically fit and avoid traffic. Now, I am a guerilla tree planter. I plant trees on vacant lots at UP Diliman. When I entered this RC hobby, I researched in the internet about arducopter in the Philippines and met Mr. Scratch Nodado. What struck me most about him is when I asked about his fees, he said, “hindi ako nagpe-presyo, kahit laruan lang masaya na ako kasi hobby ko naman ito.” I then said to myself, “I like this guy and he will be well compensated.” We became friends and he became like my sage guru. I learn many things from him like being generous and loving to family and pets. During one of our conversations in their home, his wife Lovely said that maybe we can start our own small online hobby shop considering that I can buy cheap RC parts in China. I then told myself that I will help her have a small start up business for the RC hobby, I will buy RC items and let her sell them and all the profit will be given to her until that business will become a going concern. I searched for items that I think will sell and posted them in facebook. Considering that my price is cheaper than the present fair market value, lots of my friends ordered from me. So I instructed our buying agent to buy these items. Then, right after a fellow seller liked my page and saw that many people ordered from me, many of them cancelled their orders. I investigated and found out that this person, informed them that I overpriced the item and that they should just cancel their orders and order from him. He may have a good reason for doing this. Maybe he thought I was a scammer and and he was protecting our other RC friends from being duped. Then you know what happened. Everything is OK now. I learned a lot of things from this incident. I learned not to fully trust who you consider as your friends. I learned that money is the bottom line in business and that some people will risk their credibility and not honor their commitments for a few hundred pesos. However, I still feel that there is a universal goodness in everyone’s heart and that goodness still overpowers some of their behavioral aberrations. I still feel that business can be used for a noble purpose. Most importantly, I learned from my sage guru Mr. Scratch Nodado, that money is not what drives us to do business and it is sometimes better not to name your price and let the other person decide what compensation you should get. Hence, from now on, all of our sales will be priced at cost plus whatever you want to give as compensation for the efforts rendered to consummate the sale. If you still want to support the start-up business of Mrs. Cherry Nodado, she still has a few items for sale at Scratch Hobbies. The cost of the Lipo to USB is 21rmb. In order to buy them we sent money to our buying agent by Western Union, asked our buying agent to buy them in China. To bring them to the Philippines, I (a lawyer with a juris doctor degree and passed the bar) had to go to Hong Kong, ride the Sky Limo to Shenzhen, stay in Shenzhen for 2-3 days, go back to Hong Kong, fly back to the Philippines. The items will be stored at Scratch’s place with the risk of not being paid because people not always get what they ordered. Cherry, will have to meet you up to deliver the items. So, if you think that our P350 price is unfair, you can pay the equivalent of 21rmb (Php157.50) plus whatever you feel is a fair mark up. For those of you who ordered the HDMI to AV converter but cancelled, if you still want to redeem your credibility, you can still order. The cost is 310 rmb (Php2,325). You commited to buy at P3,500 but now you can buy at the same cost the competitor is selling it, P2,800 or even less, I guess P2,500 is good enough. I think we still have cloverleaf antennas, landing skids, chasing lights, propellers, FPV flying wing (I do not know if Scratch will let go of it, it is the only one in the Philippines). You can also order items you need. We will give you the cost, it is up to you to decide how much you want to give. Let us all support the start up business of Cherry Nodado: “Scratch Hobbies.” P.S. We will not accept over compensation which we think we do not deserve. We are not asking for dole outs. We just don’t look like it but we are also well off. Hehe. Peace on earth and goodwill to men.
