Dear Friends, As you may have heard, super typhoon Haiyan - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends, As you may have heard, super typhoon Haiyan slammed into the central Philippines during the early morning hours of last Friday, local time. Journalists are calling this the most powerful storm ever to make landfall. I would like to ask you to pray for our brothers and sisters in the Philippines and, if possible, give to the relief effort being coordinated through the Church of the Nazarene in the Philippines. The Philippine Field Office (PFO) Disaster Response Rapid Assessment Team (DRRAT) of the Church of the Nazarene has been meeting since early morning hours on Saturday and responding to the developing needs. Heart-to-Heart International is partnering with the local Nazarene Disaster Response and has made arrangements with FedEx for 6 pallets of relief supplies to be flown to the Philippines as soon as logistics are in order for their arrival. The Philippine Field Office is working around the clock with our local district superintendents, facilitating the local churches response. The Compassionate Resource Warehouse, located in Victoria, BC, loaded a 20 container on Thursday, November 7, filled with Gleaners dried soup mix and a mixture of hand tools, gloves, tarps, school supplies, hygiene products and sewing products. This load had been booked so that our NCM teams could assist those who were impacted by the earthquake in the same area a few weeks ago. The container will arrive at the end of November. The Lord, in His mercy, has arranged this load at the right time to assist the current relief effort! NCM Canada has also partnered with ADRA to provide shelter tents. More assistance will be needed to respond to the needs of those impacted by these many recent disasters in the Philippines. NCM Canada is trying to organize another dried food load in January – and add more relief supplies at that time. In the meantime, NCM Canada will contribute to the Nazarene Disaster Response that is currently underway in the Philippines. Your generous gifts are needed now more than ever! You can donate online at ncmc.ca, under “014 – food, shelter, water, clothing. You can also designate a check to the Philippines relief effort and give through our local church offerings. May the LORD strengthen the people and church in the Philippines as they respond to this disaster. And may those of us who have the means, give generously. May the LORDs comfort be near to those who grieve and those who are anxious and afraid. May we all stand together in prayerful support of the people of the Philippines. Grace & Peace, Pastor Grant Zweigle
