Dear Friends; Many have asked me to clarify my agenda for Brahmapur Loksabha constituency in the event of I becoming the representative of the people in the Loksabha. The fundamental agenda as an MP is to help secure a strong JanLokpal for the country that would prevent corruption to a large extent and bring Gram Swaraj/Nagar Swaraj bill to empower people so they can participate in day-to-day decision making. In addition MP will ensure that the true voice of people of the area by holding gramsabha/referendum by sms on every bill and ascertaining peoples will on every issue. In addition, we are still working on the constituency-wise manifesto, but in the mean time the following major issues have been identified. Electricity – Lack of coverage/connectivity and irregular supply and collection of tariff Water – Drinking water scarcity of Brahmapur Road from Berhampur to Paralakhemundi through Mohana and also through Tumba/Kainpur (shorter all Odisha alignment) By-pass and ring-road for Brahmapur town Additional trains to Paralakhemundi/Gunupur and Rail Coach Factory Farming crisis, irrigation, marketing of agri-produce Solid Waste Management and Sanitation in Berhampur, Paralakhemundi Mahendratanaya Water dispute with AP Tata Land issue at Gopalpur Basic Education & Health Services Tourism development in Gopalpur beach and Forest/Mountanous regions of Gajapati (Gumma, Mohana, Mahendragiri) area Employment generation through entrepreneurship and Resolution of Naxal issue While MPs and MLAs can not promise to deliver solutions to the above issues, they can certainly commit to making the effort to secure the solutions for the people irrespective of which party comes to power. Most of the above issues can be resolved by sustained efforts by peoples representatives backed by support/demand of the local population. People need to be made aware and mobilised for the same. These are my basic thoughts, feedback/suggestion most welcome.
