Dear Friends & Supporters: We’re thrilled that the budget with the defunding language intact has passed the House. We remain hopeful that it will indeed pass the Senate and be forwarded on for final signature by the President. However, this is no time to rest. Animals’ Angels is already thinking ahead, and it is more important than ever that the Safe Act is passed to protect our horses from going to Canada and Mexico. At the time of this posting, I am at the Canadian border to document conditions for horses crossing in this brutal winter weather. Close to 100 horses crossed yesterday in Champlain while we were filming to expose lax inspections and the poor treatment these horses endure as they make their way into Canada. Our horses are simply not safe until all export is stopped. It is imperative that we continue to obtain reliable and thorough documentation to show our lawmakers the stark reality of what is happening to US horses in the slaughter pipeline. Our investigators will continue to expose the harsh truth behind horse slaughter and the transport of slaughter-bound horses. Let’s get the SAFE Act passed! Yours truly, Sonja
