Dear Friends and Activists, The Democrats on the US Senate - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends and Activists, The Democrats on the US Senate Committee On The Judiciary spoke unanimously yesterday, passing a resolution for a constitutional amendment to correct most of the damage done by the Citizens United, and other related rogue recent Supreme Court decisions. This coming Tuesday, the same language will be introduced in the US House. It is CRITICALLY important that we raise every voice we can to tell them to cosponsor this new, updated measure, to keep the heat on and keep increasing the momentum of the voices of the People. Money Out Democracy In Action Page: peaceteam.net/action/pnum1186.php Weve made so much incredible progress precisely because so many of you, our valiant participants, have responded to our series of alerts on this. Just keep clicking! This action page automatically looks up your House member by your address, and with one click of a mouse you can add your virtual signature, plus any personal comments you are inspired to add, to the fax petitions that we will pour into congressional offices. And after you submit the action page, feel free to request any of our bumper stickers related to these issues, for no charge, not even shipping. Or you can get one from this page: No Charge Bumper Stickers: peaceteam.net/citizens_united2.php Of course, if you can make a contribution of any amount, this is what makes it possible for use to send free stickers to anyone who cant afford to make a donation right now. And anything left over goes right in the Citizens United, The Movie, production, where we are dramatizing the corporations as people and money as speech issues, shooting for a principal photography wrap by about the end of August. We also have caps, DVDs, and lots of other activist advocacy goodies at the page above, so check it out. We recognize that even this new Senate Judiciary Committee language is not 100% of the whole enchilada. BUT . . . we will take this win, a major part of what needs to be fixed, while we continue our ceaseless and untiring advocacy to end all corporate purported personhood, not just in the context of election contributions. Indeed, Representative McGovern is already vowing to continue doing just that on a parallel track. And the Hobby Lobby case is a sad example of just why the corporate personhood problem needs to be directly confronted as well. The next alert we promise will be the 2nd part of our Hobby Lobby errors analysis series. You may forward this message to any friends who would find it important.
