More than 50% of people who have cancer have a rare cancer. Rare cancers include all pediatric cancers, pancreatic, thyroid, brain, cervical, and stomach cancers, sarcoma, and leukemia and lymphomas. Since its start in 2007, Cycle for Survival (cycleforsurvival.org) has raised $30 million dollars for rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering and funded more than 85 clinical trials, making it one of the most successful patient-driven fundraisers in history. Proceeds from the evening will be allocated by Memorial Sloan Kettering within six months to the most promising rare cancer research and trials.
