Dear LA Weekly, At first, I felt honored and excited to know we were part of your Best Live Band in LA voting poll. I shared it like a giddy school boy. What great exposure, regardless of the outcome, I thought. I began to feel a bit naive when I looked over the list and thought, what about this band... and this band? Why arent they on here too with all these great hard working bands in LA in consideration? That got me asking myself, Is there really a way to find, through a measurable science, the true meaning of best Live band in LA? Can they be found through aesthetics like volume, dynamics, tone, musicianship, or how visible the lead singers cock is to the audience? Ya know, cold hard facts. As you can tell, I got caught up in some serious gobble-dee-gook thinking about this consideration and the intention of such a vote. I realize that I owe thanks to those who believe in The Janks and every other hard working band in LA, that I am grateful to have been a part of this public shit storm and hope it has brewed up some yummy little dingleberrys for everybody involved, and that in the end I will continue to use my fingers for playing and writing instead of pointing them at other people.
