Dear Lawyer Friends, Any and all legitimate advice/ideas/recommendations etc. would be GREATLY appreciated! This just happened to my parents! See Below... OK, folks. I have had some strange things happen to me in my lifetime, but this one takes the cake. Earlier today, we stopped at our other house - which is in a gated community - on our way to our daughters place another hour south. We pulled in the driveway to find that the door was padlocked. Fortunately, we have a keypad lock on the other door through which we were able to enter the house only to find that EVERYTHING had been removed, right down to the window blinds. We found a paper from Safeguard Properties which said that no one was allowed in the house without their permission and listed an address of 636 Brookside Drive. My house is 727 Brookside Drive. Upon further investigation which, of course, included the appropriate security and police, it turns out that a house at 635 Brookside Drive has been foreclosed on and our house at 727 has been cleaned out. Upon calling this Safeguard Properties, I got all kinds of apologies, but I was told that we will likely get none of our stuff back. I am sure they will make some low-ball offer of compensation, but I am pissed. Any LEGITIMATE ideas?
