Dear Marys Child, As you and I journey through the seven weeks - TopicsExpress

Dear Marys Child, As you and I journey through the seven weeks of Lent, each week we will be reflecting on two of the fourteen stations of the Way of the Cross, as written by St. Alphonsus Liguori, C.Ss.R. His reflections on the passion of Jesus are used by many parishes worldwide. In the First Station Jesus stands condemned by Pilate. As blood drips from the crown of thorns upon Jesus’ head, and his back sears with the pain of the scourging just endured, St. Alphonsus asks you to consider how he was unjustly condemned to die on the cross. At the Second Station we see Jesus making the journey to Calvary with the cross on his shoulder. As he dragged his heavy burden, you and I were on his mind each step, for it was on our behalf that he offered himself to his Father unto death. I ask you to spend time reflecting on these two experiences of the Way of the Cross. Picture in your mind’s eye the face of Jesus, standing alone before Pilate, then staggering through the city before a mocking crowd. What if He did not take our place? How would we have endured this punishment? These deeply moving scenes are worth spending your time in meditation. Please pray to be moved by the example of our Savior who gives us such an example of humility and love. May Jesus Crucified and Mary, Mother of Sorrows inflame our hearts with great love for God. In Jesus and Mary,
