Dear Polers Firstly, a special thanks to Bronwyn Waite of Nouveau Dance Studios. The first regional Pole Unity event was a great success down in KZN! The event took place on Sunday 8th September at a small venue in Pinetown. They raised just over R4000 for their nominated charity Jes Foord Foundation. We look forward to seeing this event grow over the next few years. The PFASA Pole Sports League: The first ever PFASA Pole Sports League event is fast approaching, we hope your training is going well. The event will be held on the 5th October @ Dragon Spirit Pretoria. Entries close on 20th September 2013, that is this Friday. The final Compulsory Moves form must be submitted by 30th September 2013. This event is open to all Pole Athletes from beginner to advanced level. Please carefully read through the entry requirements on: pfasa.co.za/league/pfasa-pole-sports-league This is the first event in South Africa to be based on the judging system established in the UK by the IPSF - International Pole Sports Federation. Pole athletes have to include Compulsory Moves in order to be scored. Athletes may also be rewarded for performing original combinations including additional moves, as long as all of the required Compulsory Moves are part of the performance. The focus of the PFASA Pole Sports League is not on SA’s pole athletes competing against each other. It is a community event that has been designed to motivate growth within the industry, giving pole athletes of all levels a chance to perform for a friendly audience, as well as receive positive feedback from the experienced judges. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries relating to the PFASA Pole Sports League. You can also by tickets now to come and watch the event. Seating is unallocated, but if you buy tickets through the website in advance for R70 each, you will get to have a seat to watch the event for the whole day. There is also the option to turn up and pay on the door – R50 each, but you will not be guaranteed a seat and you may have to stand and watch. pfasa.co.za/fixtures?task=view_event&event_id=81 We need some helpers too! Please get in touch if you are keen to come and help us on the day (5th October in Pretoria). We need help with ticket sales, pole cleaning and general management assistance. We are honoured to announce that our experienced PFASA Pole Sports League Judges so far include: Alicja Gralewska Benita Bouwer Carmi Kruger Julie Swart Karin Nicklin Lindi Gyokosi Megan Couzyn Tracey Simmonds Venessa Clack Judges will not judge any of their students or close colleagues, nor will they judge divisions in which they are competing. PFASA Pole Jam: The next PFASA Open Pole Jam takes place on 20th October at Vertical Vixen Northriding. Please keep an eye on all of the PFASA Events and make bookings by viewing the Calendar and Fixtures pages on the website: pfasa.co.za/fixtures/calendar-view IPSF Judging Course and Exams 2014: We are looking at hosting the judges training course with the head technical judge from the International Pole Sports Federation committee in April/May 2014. The cost of the course per individual will be approximately R3750. Candidates will be required to study the judging system as used by the IPSF, the only international pole sports organisation working on the development of pole as an athletic gymnastic sport. polesports.org Please indicate if you would be interested in taking this course.
