Dear Republicans - congrats on the election, you won more races than expected. If youre reading the analysis as well, it looks like a lot of the votes were negative (i.e. not voting for you as much as voting against the current administration). Which really means you have about two years to come up with a better plan, promote it, and get some things done. Set some clear goals, write some good legislation, let it get signed or vetoed - but either way, make it clear what a better way looks like. Otherwise in a couple years you will be the ones held responsible for the problems of the day and the pendulum will swing back. Dear Voters - based on some Michigan races that won by dramatic margins on both sides of the aisle, Id estimate that 1/3 or more of the voters split their ticket on some key decisions. This takes much more preparation, time and thought that simply voting 100% votes to my party. This means that voters are smarter than a lot of marketing folks give them credit for, and that people are paying attention to individual candidates, and specific races, rather than an across-the-board ideology. A lot of political scientists are scratching their heads today, and this is probably a good thing. Nice job.
