Dear RightWingKing71, Im sincerely happy you had a stable childhood in the suburbs with both of your parents and that they helped you lay the framework to capitalize on all of your privilege and grow up to be a success. Where Im from the rates of success arent as high, but I refuse to accept that its because my neighbours are inferior humans that are prone to making poor decisions, ESPECIALLY the young people. In this capitalistic, European colony I live in (Canada), higher rates of crime and disparity in economically depressed areas is not a question of IF - its a question of WHEN and HOW MUCH. You being a man of logic should be able to appreciate this and perhaps show a little more understanding when it comes to passing judgement on marginalized people (ESPECIALLY youth). Im extremely grateful to have been born here and to have had the opportunity to enjoy the privileges afforded to a white male in the first world. HOWEVER... that doesnt mean that I will completely disregard the evils and societal ills that my country is responsible for. We do have slavery in our history and an undeniable track record of marginalizing people of colour. Im not proud that my tax dollars help to systemically prey upon those who are prejudged and called wannabes or fake for trying to create a unique identity within a society that works to alienate and conform them at the same time. Its not our place to tell anyone that racism doesnt exist here. We cant relate to it, but we can listen and possibly alter our actions and outlooks. At the very least, please do not get mad at me because I choose to talk about the big picture and not just focus on the ideals that Ive established for myself based on my personal experiences.
