Dear Robin Williams, I miss you so much. I know that sounds strange coming from someone who didnt know you, but you graced my life and made me laugh and now the world seems darker without you. I first met you in Hook. Peter Banning reminded me of my dad and Peter Pan won my heart, and somehow in that film, you embodied the two men I would love the most. I fell in love with you again as Genie and again in Jumanj. I was in love with Ben Affleck in Good Will Hunting, but I appreciated your presence in that film, as if somehow my childhood crush was giving me his blessing to move on to a teenage one. Every time I saw you throughout the years, I felt the same sense of security I felt as a child, when I watched your movies over and over again. It never occurred to me that someone who made a world laugh could hurt so deeply or feel as alone as I felt before I turned on one of your movies. Im sorry you couldnt find the peace or happiness or reassurance you needed to go on in the world, but I want you to know that you have given all of those things to so many people, including me. Ill miss you and I will always love you.
