Dear Speaker Boehner: If youre going to go after President Obama for executive orders, perhaps you could use this information -- oh thats right -- it doesnt help you a bit -- in fact it blows your Obama-hating attack out of the water. During his presidency, Obama has issued just 175 executive orders. His predecessors Ronald Reagan issued 381, George H.W. Bush 166, Bill Clinton 364 and George W. Bush 291. Although there is no constitutional provision nor statute that explicitly permits executive orders, there is a vague grant of executive power given in Article II, Section 1, Clause 1 of the Constitution, and furthered by the declaration take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed made in Article II, Section 3, Clause 5. Perhaps you should re-read that part of the Constitution and learn your history. But thats what youre going to do -- you hate President Obama and thats all youre interested in. Youre also trying to show that youre actually doing something and trying to make some political waves. But youre the House Speaker in an unpopular Congress that has done nothing but obstruct President Obama. And youre overreaching again. Heres an idea Mr. Speaker, do your job.
