Dear Step-parents : Thank you to all the step-parents that love your spouses child! It gives the bio-parent peace of mind knowing that you care as you do. But I must put you in check a little. Regardless on how much you love, there is certain things you cant over-step your bounds. We appreciate you for all the good you do. But that does not give you the right to step on the other parents toes. Also to the other Bio parent. I understand you are starting a new family, but that person is not their parent. So saying this is Our child, making the child call the step-parent Mom or Dad is just not right.Going against what the other Bio parent wishes. Be considerate. This other Bio parent had this child. It isnt that they dont want to share, there is a considerate way to go about it....Whatever the case, or your story is. That just makes matters worse on the child by forcing some of these things. I see this so much, and it breaks my heart for the child. All it causes is confusion and pain. But we do appreciate you, just show the other some respect, and hopefully in return co-parenting can be an easy, loving thing.. For all the parties involved. More so, for the children. Teaching our children, respect for others.. and a greater love then they could imagine.
