Dear Sweet Lovely People Who Contributed to the Vic Slam Team Indiegogo Campaign: As we recover the pieces from this past week, our team is organizing to put together all of your prize packs very soon. Expect good things and you shall receive them. Although we fell short in our competitive goals on account of four extra decimal points the judges didnt see fit to give us, I am told that we were among the champions in the winning hearts and minds category for which there is no trophy except that of a good reputation attached to our home community. The sort of home community that comes out regularly to Vic Slam and Tongues of Fire and all manner of wild, wicked poetry events in Victoria. The sort of community that then additionally contributes love, and money, but most importantly love, to the cause of sending our rag-tag cohort of weirdos to Montreal to seduce ears and produce tears (of laughter and many varieties). Our chapbooks and haikus and voice message poems are a small token of the love we wish to shower on you in return. Also, perhaps another token of our love, is that we can officially tell you that we are bringing the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word / Festival canadien de spoken word to your backyard next year. That will require no small amount of sweat or sleepless nights, but it will be wee-eellll worth it, as the rat bastards like to say.
