Dear Waycross Elected Officials, I want to begin by applauding - TopicsExpress

Dear Waycross Elected Officials, I want to begin by applauding the current elected leaders for standing in the place to lead the community. In that position, you are sacrificing of yourself to serve the community. The true leader serves. Serves people. Serves their best interests, and in so doing will not always be popular, may not always impress. But because loving concern rather than a desire for personal glory motivates you, you have been willing to pay the price. We know leadership is a privilege. It’s also a responsibility. It demands risk and accountability. Leadership is an action, not a position. No one said leading was easy. But you don’t have to do it alone. Let us, the citizens of Waycross come alongside you and push you toward the best you possible. What is so wonderful about our community, especially right now is that people are ready to be lead to action. The citizens are ready to support our city leaders, but we need action! We need you to show us ACTION. We need you to lead us. John Quincy Adams said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” As leaders of my community, I believe it is time to exceed our expectations. I challenge each of our elected city leaders to create a program for the youth, a program for the elderly, a program for business owners or those who want to start a business. Imagine the positive outcomes. We are a small community, rooted in deep southern traditions, some are great and some should be dismissed, but one tradition that crosses all races, genders, socio economic classes is that we take care of our children. Our children are the future of Waycross. We have to provide and protect all of them. I challenge our elected city leaders to create affordable (FREE) activities for the children to participate in during their fall, spring and summer breaks. Keep our children out of the courts and the jails. I challenge our elected city leaders to not just attend functions and show face, but to get out and meet the needs of this community. More is required of public officials than slogans and handshakes and press releases. More is required. You must provide the people with a vision of the future. You cannot have community without UNITY. The greatest challenge is to take people who have so much to divide them and find a reason to unite them. As leaders we need you to be united and be examples for the rest of the community. I challenge you to resolve the issues amongst our leaders so that you can focus on the needs of all of the citizens. Rev. T D Jakes once said - We must remain vigilant as we move forward, learning from our past mistakes and forgiving ourselves for yesterday’s failures. We must remain true to ourselves and our heart’s dreams, never settling for less than our full potential. Lead us! Ngwebi Fobi
