Dear Whoever, +++ IMPORTANT MISSIVE +++ Art Abscon is working on a new album that will be titled “The Separate Republic”. This time, Art’s musical approach will be radically uncompromising. Even though some of you might consider his previous work unique, versatile and eclectic in some regards, Abscon has informed me – Michael – that the music I made for him was still too heavily influenced by temporary musical trends and too restricted by the limitations of certain genres. This must not happen again. Henceforth, Art’s voice will speak to you from beyond time – and space; exactly as it should. Of course, we might lose many followers by adopting such an uncompromising stance; we will probably lose especially those who are dependent on the safety and social cohesion awarded by the confinement to categories, genres and musical scenes. But that is irrelevant to Art. It does not matter how MANY people Art reaches; it matters WHO will be reached. We will even further decrease the number of people we reach by refusing to share important information and other material (videos, music uploads, interviews, etc.) via social networks like Facebook. We will gradually abandon this platform here, since, for various reasons, we consider it a highly inappropriate vehicle for the transmission of our missives. If you wish to continue to be informed about ART ABSCONs’ music, plans, ideas, thoughts, musical progress, physical releases, etc. and receive video messages or music downloads, you will be exclusively informed by means of OPUS ABSCONDI’s German/English NEWSLETTER. All this does not mean that we will immediately stop using Facebook for good. We will still answer messages and post a few things here and there. But we will not use it to share any of the information we consider worthwhile and precious. Through our newsletter, however, Art will offer highly exclusive information and material to people whose appreciation for his art is more substantial than a flimsy “like”. To close this missive, Grandmaster Abscon would like to quote one of his favourite dead composers. It is also the artist to whom Opus Abscondi’s first newsletter edition will be dedicated: “I kindly ask those who do not understand me to be completely silent and to assume a posture of total submission and inferiority.
