From the MLive Voter Guide: Why are you running for office? I’m running for Congress to stand up for ordinary Americans. When I entered Congress, I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution, and I have followed through on that promise. The political elites of both parties don’t like what I’m doing. They have a vision of government that is very different from the vision laid out in the Constitution. Society prospers when people make choices for their own lives, so I champion economic freedom and individual liberty. Details matter; I carefully consider how each vote affects every person I represent. I know that those with bad intentions may distort my votes, but my job is to consider real consequences, not just vote for what’s easy or has a pleasant-sounding title.
