Dear all, Im pleased to announce that in conjunction with the HKBPDC pre-tournament workshops, I shall be running intensive debate sessions for those who have already mastered the basics and wish to further extend on argumentation and strategy. The sessions will be split into intermediate and advanced sessions. The intermediate session will be held during the mornings from 9:30am to 1:30pm on the 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd of November. This session will have an emphasis on WSDC strategies and reply speeches. The advanced session will be during the afternoon of the same dates, from 2:30pm to 6:30pm. This session is aimed at those who will be making the leap to university debating soon, and focus more on the nuances of BP debate, with a focus on case building and extensions. Both sessions will look at specific advanced skills such as debate strategy, how to make your argument the most relevant one in the debate, looking at the debate through fresh lenses, breaking down the homogenization of actors within the debate, focusing rebuttals to take down cases instead of arguments and understanding what is required to win in a debate. Due to the nature of the classes I will cap the size of the classes at 16, with a minimum class size of 8, to maximize participation and opportunity to debate. Thus there will be a maximum of 32 participants. Both classes will be taught by myself, for those who dont know me allow me to toot my own horn a bit. I have trained debaters all over Asia, including being a faculty member of the Asian Debate Institute, most recently this Summer. I have also been on the adjudication core for most Asian tournaments, including the North East Asian Open, HKDO and the International Christian University Tournament held in Japan, and have been selected to serve on the adjudication core for the upcoming Bali United Asian Debating Championships[UADC], the third largest debate tournament in the world. I was selected as the top judge at the KIDA IV held in Korea this past Summer and was a top ten judge at the recently concluded Asian BP held in Kuching Borneo. As this will be an intensive debate session, the cost of the workshop will be HKD200 per hour, or HKD3200 in total. There will be an early bird discount of 15% for the first 10 participants. Once registration is accepted, participants will be emailed with payment instructions and once payment has been confirmed, a confirmation email will be sent. You may register for the sessions at the following link https://docs.google/forms/d/1x74UvEnA5_bZ5wzK4yzpZ_p5A5IGZyr1iqh6MXY5Cek/viewform Please do email me with any queries you may have, and I look forward to seeing many of you soon! Many thanks Sandeep
