Due to a recent increase in projects, Allen Archaeology Ltd are seeking staff for immediate appointment, primarily to work on an exciting project involving the excavation of a large post-medieval cemetery in Greater London. In the first instance, contracts will be of up to 3 months duration, with the possibility of extension. Free weekday accommodation in London and transport to and from our Head Office will be provided for the duration of the project, if required. Financial: £17,407.00 per annum. Subsistence expenses and an allowance are available for away-based projects. Human Remains Processor (Job ref: BSRG14PRO) You will have an interest in human osteology and the ability to carry out basic identification of human remains. A qualification in human osteology or an associated discipline is desirable but not essential. You will have a sound understanding of British Archaeology and of the legal and ethical requirements of working with human remains. Importantly, you must be able to work well in a team, and be highly organised and methodical. Commercial archaeological experience is an advantage but not essential. The post would be of interest to those starting out or wishing to pursue a career in human osteology and seeking to gain greater hands-on experience of working with human remains. Although this is not specifically a training post you will be part of an experienced team which is supported by a highly qualified an experienced osteologist, providing the opportunity to develop your identification skills as the project continues. On occasion, processing staff maybe required to assist with aspects of the excavation at a level commensurate with their experience. Additional information CSCS trained preferable but not essential, as is membership of the Institute for Archaeologists at practitioner level or above. Posts include an occupational pension with employer’s contribution (effective after 3 months continuous employment), and 28 days paid leave per year pro rata (inclusive of Bank Holidays).
