This is one of the UNESCO registered Yayu forest reserves in Oromia regional state in Ilu Abba Bora. This is one of the few areas i enjoy traveling when i was working for the Regional government in different capacity from lecture to dean of college, researcher and head of Department in Regional transportation planning . It is one of the best forest in Africa if not world. Usually when im travelling from Jimaa towards this world class forest heritage area i struct any driver to drive slowly so that i really get satisfaction and appreciate this great gift from God to this innocent people. Ladies and gentlemen i want you to watch this particular link through the lens of sustainable development. I know most of you well aware of what a sustainable development is all about. In nutshell sustainable development means is wise uses of resources today without compromising future generation to meet their own needs. Today we are living in turbulent dynamic environment characterised by inevitable changes, innovation, intense competition and uncertainty. In connection to this Government of the people, by the people and ruled by democracy has huge role to play in sustainability of the natural resources of nation and nationalities. But more importantly Administration use a large amount of resources and employ a lot of people and paramount important protect the common properties for the following reasons such us; Purification of air and water, mitigation of droughts and floods, Generation and preservation of soils and renewal of their fertility, detoxification and decomposition of wastes, pollination of crops and natural vegetation, dispersal of seeds, cycling and movements nutrients, control of vast majority of potential Agricultural pests, maintenance of biodiversity and stability of climate. Relating this to burn of Bale forest, deforestation of Yayu forest one of the of the UNESCO registered reserves in oromia, killing and arresting of Oromo students, renaming challenging Oromo political part like OLF as terrorist organization by the TPLF regimes, land grabbing and perpetual human right violation in Oromia is clear indication of neo-colonialism and complete destruction of Oromo people and regional state. For God seck watch the clip and judge if this project has the ability to bypass both pre feasibility and feasibility studies.I think is complete undermining of Oromo people. There is plenty of land where this project could be located. Today in Tigray stones are turned upside down and trees are planted and In Oromia UNESCO registered forest are destroyed, Bale forest are burned, mineral resources are being looted, intellectuals are forced to live their homeland, and fertile and prime land are being grabbed by Tigray investors and their affiliated companies all these are international performed to interrupt the future sustainability in Oromia.
