Dear family and friends, Thursday we were told that Sherry again - TopicsExpress

Dear family and friends, Thursday we were told that Sherry again has another lung infection and that her lungs have become severely damaged. We were also told that several other of her organs have had irreversible damage due to medication which has been used in an effort to help other parts of her body heal. The family and later Sherry were told at the outset of this journey that her treatment would be a tightrope walk. We have learned that the treatment needed to help one of the bodys systems can be, and has been, detrimental to another one of the bodys systems. Even hearing this, Sherry was willing to give medicine its best shot. Sherry is tiny but has shown great strength. It has been with a renewed sense of appreciation for my sister that I have sat with her and will continue to be with her through this journey. She has endeared herself to the staff at both hospitals, Shands and Select, with her ability to smile at each person entering her room, regardless of her pain. The staff are amazed at the assortment of cards that are plastering the wall of Sherrys room. They have never seen so many. The cards have been a constant reminder during these three long months of isolating time being confined to a hospital bed, of the people who have always been so important to Sherry throughout her life. Yesterday, the staff at the hospital, from doctors to custodians, continued to come by the room to share and update Sherry of the score in the game of her beloved Seminoles. To each, she would give a smile and one or two thumbs up depending upon her pain level at the time. It is rather bittersweet that her team is having such an amazing season. Our family so appreciates you keeping Sherry in your thoughts and prayers as she continues the process of finishing this journey and preparing herself for the next.
