Well its been a few days so I thought I would drop a line and bring everyone up to speed on events concerning the shelter. Besides the usual stray calls we are now receiving calls concerning animals without blankets in their doghouses. County ordinance specifies the rules required for housing of animals. Blankets or lack of them, does not fall under that ordinance. If the weather is unusually cold or rain / snow, we will conduct a welfare check on the behalf of the animal to ensure its safety and speak with the owner(s). I have a Great Pyrenees that loves the cooler weather, especially the snow..some are built for that type of weather so keep in mind the breeds involved sometimes when you are observing things that may concern you. The dog we picked up the other day was reunited with its owner after he discovered her missing. The dog had a collar on it that belonged to the owners friend..............not something I would recommend but it did give us a contact lead and all is well in Dogville now. It appears that Mr Bonkers may in fact be leaving soon. I knew that if a person looking for a really cool dog would visit him that he would do the rest- he did, so as soon as his new dog area complete with a roof is finished he will go to his new home. I will miss him as he is a total DOG. I am in process of contacting another rescue located in Florida regarding our problem child Husky..it is a last resort unfortunately as he needs rehabilitation and another environment other then being here all day long. We have been receiving calls concerning the remains of deceased animals. If they are on a county maintained road, you may call the road department for disposal. Remains on state maintained roadways need to be directed to the Dept of Transportation, hopefully that clarifies that information. Well thats pretty much all for now, we are still trying to find new homes for our dogs and cats here so if you or anyone you know desires a quality pet for minimal cost and wants to feel good about giving a dog or cat a second chance, our office is 706-439-6052 or message us on this site.
