Dear friends -- thanks in advance for reading this, In 2012, my son was born with a moderate to severe hearing loss. While I personally struggled to understand how this would affect him, myself and my family, I felt guilty listening to music and found little enjoyment or time for writing songs. 7 months after his birth, my father passed away and I felt like giving up on music altogether. As the next few months passed, Ashers hearing loss progressed into the profound range rendering him completely deaf without the benefit of being able to use hearing aids any more. Its been nearly 8 1/2 years since Ive written a song with these past 2 having proven incredibly difficult. Although it took nearly two years to find the nerve and words to write this particular piece, this song encompasses my feelings about learning about and accepting Ashers hearing loss and the unconditional love I have for my son. Allan Goodman, one of my best friends of over 22 years who recently passed away, guided me through the writing process by helping me find my voice again. When I visited him in Nashville back in February, we discussed music and he pointed me back in the right direction. Ultimately, Allan through his own wisdom and struggles, gave me the confidence to release and share this song with the world. When I sent him a copy of the finished track, he texted me back saying PLEASE put this on iTunes! The public has to have this. I originally was going to release this with a news story that has yet to air, but Ive been sitting on it for months and, as a result, I didnt get to share the release with him. So, here it is -- Hear My Heart (A Song For Asher): iTunes: https://itunes.apple/us/album/hear-my-heart-song-for-asher/id874358218 Amazon: amazon/Hear-My-Heart-Song-Asher/dp/B00K6B1V42/ref=tmm_other_meta_binding_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1404242485&sr=1-1-fkmr0 BandCamp: michaelgoldberg.bandcamp/releases ($1 or name your price) Although Im still working on the logistics, I want to use a large portion of the proceeds (if any) to help defray medical bills as well as to support programs supporting deaf children. More details on that when I get things figured out. Enjoy, share and thanks for listening. -MG
