Dear friends, Due to Janes (in her own words) cheap business ethics, I will no longer host the open mic at the Judges Bench on Tuesdays. For the last few years, I feel that I have provided exemplary service to the bar and to its customers, or as I call you, my friends! Jane agreed that on my Tuesdays, she made more money in the drawer. I could only assume the reason she decided on this is simply because A. She knows I dont like her and I call her on her bullshit. Or B. Shes found yet another way to save a few bucks. I hope I am not the only one who is or has been outraged by Jane and other bar owners like her who take everyone that puts the real blood, sweat, tears, and money into their business for granted. What she refuses to acknowledge is the blatant fact that its the live entertainment and the community of entertainers that keeps her business afloat. All of us do our part to make sure that we do the best we can so people feel welcomed with love and no judgement in her establishment, yet we (the entertainers and staff) usually end up dealing with it coming from her. Jane specifically stated to me that my phone call with her earlier today was nowhere near the first time she has been chewed out by a working musician for dicking them over, obviously there is a pattern here. I have asked her politely, via text message, to remove my name from all her advertisements of open mic night for there are laws to prevent her from using my name. I have not yet received a reply. I will take it upon myself to find another bar in or around the Ellicott City area on Tuesdays so we can still have a rocking open mic with full band backline and professional and superior sound quality!! I have heard from MANY of you, saying that you would only come to my open mics at the Bench because of what Jane was pulling on me and that you were dissatisfied with the other hosts. I now ask to put that support into action and help all musicians at EVERY level understand that we will not tolerate anyone who mistakes our JOB for a HOBBY!!! Cheers
