Dearly beloved, God remembers His covenant forever. The Bible - TopicsExpress

Dearly beloved, God remembers His covenant forever. The Bible says, “…To all who received Him (The Lord Jesus), to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12). Yes, the Lord has made a covenant with us by which, on our part, we accept Him in our heart and live in union with Him, placing our only faith on Him. The chosen man of God, Moses, says: “Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God…” (Deuteronomy 4:23). He further says, “Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them” (Deuteronomy 4:9). Many years ago, there lived a poor family in certain country, consisting of a father, mother and a little child. Reports of the ‘Gold-rush’ in the neighbouring country were going around, urging people to migrate there so that they might become rich at once, by silting the gold sediments floating along the rivers flowing through the gold-mine areas. The poor man was also inspired by the ‘quick wealth’ idea; he made preparations to set out on his journey. Before he left home, his little daughter ran to him and gave him a small book, saying “Please take this along with you.” It was the New Testament and he packed it along with other things in his suitcase. The man went to the neighbouring country accompanied by his friends but they were all disappointed as they could not identify any particular place for ‘gold picking.’ They began drinking liquor and spent all their money on it. They were forced to sell away their belongings in their suit-cases. He looked into his suitcase for articles to put up for sale. He happened to find the New Testament. When he opened it, his eyes focused on his daughter’s signed statement in the first page: ‘Dad! Forget me not!’ His heart was crushed and he lamented, “Alas! I have forgotten my daughter! The man then turned over the pages of the New Testament and his eyes fell on the verse John 14:1, Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God.” After reading this verse, a great comfort settled in his disturbed mind. Kneeling down, he prayed with tears, “Lord, I believe You; please help me!” Divine comfort and peace filled him. His friends rushed to him, read that consoling verse and were comforted. Their hearts turned towards God and they returned home as new, enlightened men. God tells us, His children: “My dear son/ daughter. I’ll never forget the covenant I have made with you; I’ll always accompany you.” God has promised His blessings those who follow His commands. He remembers His covenant He has made with You. Hence commit Yourself to be faithful to Him. Then He will reward you according to His promise. Prayer: Loving Lord Jesus, As You have promised to bless those who are faithful to You, I commit myself to obey Your commands. Please forgive all my shortcomings and bless me according to Your promises. In Your matchless name I pray, Amen.
