Death Parade and Roman Mythology Connections So it seems that the arbiters - Nona and Decim especially - are inspired by the Parcae in Roman mythology - the personifications of destiny. The Parcae are called Nona, Decima, and Morta. They spun, measured, and cut the threads of life respectively (re: the threads that Decim uses to manipulate others). Nona and Decim mean ninth and tenth respectively, referring to the months of a child’s life. Morta stands out because she’s not represented by a number - her name simply means death.
