December 1st. As we enter the Season of Giving, I have to express - TopicsExpress

December 1st. As we enter the Season of Giving, I have to express my deepest warmest gratitude to everyone who came through Friday night. FUN doesnt even begin to cover it. We had a turnout of 90 people, raffled off 22 donated prizes/baskets, sold almost $1k worth of raffle tix, and raised over $2300 altogether. What cannot be quantified, however, is the feeling of togetherness, hope, love, and goodwill that filled the room and our hearts - which is a gift that very much keeps giving. It is a gift that keeps spirits afloat when hearts are heavy and fortifies the human soul when times are tough. Miles Gregory has been living in a hospital since the day of his birth, June 8th - it is the only home outside of Mommas belly he has known thus far. His parents, as you can imagine, are desperate to get him HOME home, and they are told that will be another several months. When that finally, thankfully happens, Mom will take an unpaid leave from work to care for Miles (she and Dad have been training for the intensive, specialized care Miles will need). They will be down to one income at that point (for a family of 4 with as yet untold medical expenses). The road ahead is not an easy or a clear one for our friends. But they have each other, they have faith and strength through love, they have the support of their family & extended family; their friends & their extended friends. We are planning to show that support for many years to come. We would like to hold this event again next year. We hope we can count on everyone to come out again and we hope we can make it even bigger and better. Most of all we hope that by this time next year, the road ahead will look a little clearer, smoother, and brighter. In the meantime, should you find youre able to donate more funds and/or spread the word to others who might, this is the fundraising website set up by their loving friend Christina Haberkern: gofundme/thebabiesluczkowski Whether you bought tix, volunteered your time, offered discounted services, brought a friend, spread the word, and/or contributed money, raffle prizes, desserts, or some other kindness, EACH of you is a TRUE FRIEND and a LOYAL FRIEND. Many of you attendees & contributors barely know or have not even even met Meghann and Len. Youre simply giving, caring people, and your generosity is so great it cannot be limited to personal acquaintance. Youre the people who dont need a reward or recognition for do-gooding. But Id like to recognize you anyway. Heres to all those who, by example, inspire selflessness, solidarity, perseverance, and faith in humanity. These are the things that make hope worth having, struggle worth overcoming and life worth living.
