The measure of a society can be how well its people treat its animals. Opponents of breed specific legislation have long opposed Franklin County Dog Shelters cap on so-called vicious breed dogs allowed on the adoption floor. FCDS also doesnt include vicious breed dogs in their own foster programs. The state of Ohio and insurance companies did away with the so-called vicious breed designation, why hasnt Franklin County? When I adopted my puppy from FCDS, a shelter worker encouraged me to take her before she shows her breed as she would have been euthanized for simply being a vicious breed. Science shows us dogs arent born vicious, humans make a dog vicious. Joe Rock, many of us has asked for clarity about the FCDS post yesterday as it contradicts your discriminatory practices in place at the shelter but our comments have been deleted. I was so happy to read your post because I thought at long last, dogs who happened to be born the wrong breed would have a chance there. Why would you write that post if its not the case? County Commissioners, how do you think voters feel about policies being maintained on the basis of discrimination? Shouldnt policy be built on facts instead of prejudice?
