December 2013 Haiti Team Trip Updates Day 1 Monday, December 2, 2013 Our team departed the Imperial Valley today, en route to Haiti! There are 11 people on this team: Ryan Rothfleisch (team leader), Gary & Kathy Rinkenberger (IVHFH veterans from the Central Coast), Brittany Saiza & Denise Solorzano (teenage (15 & 16) girls from Niland on their first big trip), Noe Soto (from Pastor Moore’s Spanish church), Raul Salazar (from Pastor Moore’s Trinity Baptist Men’s Restoration Home), Rocky Hampton (recent Brawley transplant), Ryan Fancy (young farm hand from Calipat), Gary Klockmann (Brawley farm mechanic), and John Sharpe (retired pastor and teacher from El Centro, Walter Colace’s father-in-law). As always, God has pulled together a seemingly VERY random group of people, who I know will turn out to be a wonderful, God-ordained team. One fun thing I just have to share that God has already done…Raul on the team (and I hope I get this story straight…) is an ex-convict with a very troubled past. Almost a year ago he walked all the way from Calipatria to Holtville (30 miles) to go to the men’s home to get help. Through that program he gave his life to Jesus and his dream is to become a missionary. This trip is his first mission trip and his first time ever on an airplane. When they got to the airport, even though I personally booked their flights in economy, he and Noe, our Spanish only speaker, were told that they were in 1st class all the way to Haiti. God really blessed them! How fun is that?! Tomorrow they are set to arrive in Port-au-Prince at 9:05 am and our new director, Celissa, will be waiting at the airport to pick them up. She will take them on a little tour of Port, visiting the museum, a little hand-made souvenir market, a nice hotel for lunch, the mass grave, etc. before heading out to the mission to begin their work and ministry. Please pray for them to have a safe flight, to get some rest (they hit the ground running after an overnight flight!) and for God to be filling them with His Holy Spirit, wisdom, discernment, energy and readiness for sharing the love of Jesus every chance they get while they’re working. Thank you for your prayers and support! I will try to keep you posted every day as always! In Christ, Nikki Rothfleisch
