TALK JAMAICA: THE WEEK THAT WAS: National Security Minister Peter Bunting, on August 4, announced the immediate merger of the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Task Force (MOCA) and the Anti-Corruption Branch. The merged entity will be called the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, retaining the MOCA acronym. Bunting disclosed that the merger of the Jamaica Constabulary Forces (JCF) two premier intelligence agencies was an interim measure and a precursor to the establishment of a supranational elite law-enforcement agency.Reporting to the National Security Council, through the minister of national security, on matters of policy and performance; the agency will be more empowered to tackle serious organised crime and stamp out corruption by people of interest, including the police and those in public office.
