Well, if youre going to make ratatouille, you make the ratatouille from Ratatouille, right? reddit/r/food/comments/29qt7f/well_if_youre_going_to_make_ratatouille_you_make/ • If you are what you eat, then I only want to eat the good stuff. – Remy • I used this recipe from Smitten Kitchen. She mentions Thomas Kellers Confit Byaldi as well, and links to that recipe as well. I used thinner squash and eggplant and no peppers, then served it over couscous. After looking at both recipes, Id recommend going with the lower temperature for longer like in Kellers as I think it would give a better flavor. Also, this is amazing as leftovers the next day. • This is a great recipe. Ive made it several times now, and an amazed by how simple, yet delicious, it is. • My mother and I do the same thing, with a bit of parmesan on top when served, but extra tomato, squash, and zucchini. Something about the couscous is just excellent for this dish. • i.imgur/TTxVJqj.jpg This is mine from yesterday :) Mixed it with some butter garlic noodles for lunch. • Thomas Kellers Ad hoc also offers a simpler variation: winterjade/WordPress/2011/08/23/summer-vegetable-gratin/ Although having made both, I personally think it is a little overrated in flavor. Looks beautiful though. • Which is the variation called Confit Byaldi :) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confit_byaldi • I was wondering why that looked like the Byaldi from the French Laundry Cookbook. • Tomas keller actually consulted for the movie so its technically his design thats being followed. • Yeah, read the wikipedia article. Pretty cool. • Every time I watch the movie I marvel at the little details that show how much research went into it.... such as the fact that Skinner is getting Linguini drunk on an $18,000 bottle of 61 LaTour, and they got every detail of the label correct. Also, as both one who likes to explore the depths of cuisine and happens to be a critic, I think that Egos speech at the end of the film is nothing short of brilliant... both in its content and delivery. • Never seen the word ratatouille used that much in a sentence. • Say ratatouille one more time, I dare you! • Ratatouille • Anyone else wish that it was one continuous spiral instead of it being cut off into two parts? • Came here just to say that.
