December 23, 2013 Irelands doctor came in and told us that they needed to go ahead and do the PA band surgery soon. This is a surgery where they go in and put bands on her pulmonary arteries to restrict the blood flow to her lungs. Her heart was pumping all of her blood to her lungs and her extremities were not getting the blood flow they needed. This was very scary! When we met with the transplant team, they told us that in a couple of weeks she would need this surgery. It had only been five days! It was scheduled for early Christmas Eve morning. About Christmas, while I was pregnant, the cardiologist told us that Ireland would be in the hospital for about 2 weeks. So I planned for that. I had made out a calendar and put where the kids would be, who would be picking them up. I gave a copy to everyone that would be keeping them. Christmas Eve my family always gathers at our house for breakfast and we spend the whole day together. But this year, everyone was going to come to LR and we were going to have Christmas Eve at our hotel. We would get to spend time with the kids. No different, just in LR. But God had different plans for us.
