December 25th, Christmas Day, the day that has been set aside to - TopicsExpress

December 25th, Christmas Day, the day that has been set aside to honor the birth (not the birthday) of Jesus, the Christ. (I think we are all in agreement that Jesus was not born on December 25th. And, to those who dont agree, in the words of a very wise man who also celebrates his birth today: to you be your way and to me be mine.) Disclaimer: This status is not about Christianity or any organized religious system. It is about Jesus. What others have wrongfully and erroneously done in His name is not at issue. Jesus...not a myth or a legend, but a real man, ...a wise man, if indeed it is lawful to call him a man according to 1st Century Jewish historian, Josephus: for he was a performer of wonderful deeds, a teacher of such men as are happy to accept the truth. (Jewish Antiquities, 18.3.3 §63) Whether you believe in Jesus or not, I personally find it an amazing fact that, out of all the billions of people born throughout history, He is the only one whose birth spurs people around the entire world to do spontaneous acts of love and kindness and generosity...not for one day, but for an entire season; not for just one year, but each and every year for centuries. Even people who never help anyone at any other time of the year or are not associated with any type of organized religious system are overcome by the Christmas spirit and, for some strange reason, they feel compelled to joyfully and generously give to others! To me, my friends, that is a wonderful deed in itself...a miracle, if you would have it. And, that is enough reason for me to give honor to Jesus (not Christianity or religion) on this day that has been set aside to honor His birth...even though it is not the day on which He was born. If you disagree, I say again: to you be your way and to me be mine, and I pray that you understand that tolerance is a two-way street. So, as I give honor to the only true reason for this entire season that man (whoever that man may be) has chosen to name Christmas, I say to each and everyone of you, both near and far...Merry Christmas!!! And, my prayer for you and for our world (a world quite contrary to the message that Jesus taught) is the same message that was shared with the world at His birth: Peace on Earth; goodwill toward all mankind. With all my love, Pastor Dixon Sorry, but if I could rewrite the lyrics and rerecord the tune, it would say: Give love on Evry Day. Peace... youtu.be/o0LEiIUi8Qs
