December is a busy month for most people, and for the Infants at Wingate School this is no exception. Monday 1st December the children looked forward to opening the class advent calendar. Festive displays are starting to go up of snowmen, trees and snowflakes and the children have helped to decorate their class Christmas tree. Cards, calendars, crackers and other such Christmas activities are underway – Lots to do before the end of term!! But perhaps one of the most exciting things at this time of year is our Christmas nativity play, where the children get to perform for mums and dads. This year we decided to do two shorter plays. The first – A Snowman at Sunset – involves the Year 1 and Nursery classes and teaches the importance of working together. There are some super narrators and actors, and a lovely duet at the end but I do think that our Nursery children will steal the show dressed as 12 tubby snowmen for their little song! The Year 2 and Reception classes are portraying the traditional Christmas story through the eyes of “The Curious Sheep”. Once again we have some great speakers and actors, two lovely soloists, and even some dancing gospel angels!! With a Christmas party on the last day of term, hopefully with a visit from a certain bearded gentleman in a red suit, it is a perfect way to end our autumn term. The staff and children of Wingate School would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Miss Pearson Head of Infants
