Dees Blog As usual it was a hectic day, medicating, syringe feeding, wiping eyes and noses, countless washing, feeding, cleaning, taking calls etc. In between all this I took 5 minutes to read the paper only to learn that a lady who just adopted from us a month ago had past away. This lady was younger than me. It really made me think today how our lives can be so unpredictable or short. We get one life to do what we want to. Some of us know what they want and go for it, others float through life taking what life throws at them others sit back and let life pass them bye. Me, I guess Im a mixture. I float through life taking whats thrown at me but I also know want I want. I want to make a difference. I never wanted to be a brain surgeon or a doctor in fact I always wanted to be a vet. I ended up in the accountancy/secretarial field. As soon as I finished high school my dad said to me dont think your going to become a bum, your mother and I have enrolled you in tafe. So thats how I got into that field. BUT the one thing I love is animals. It breaks my heart to see such cruelty to animals, to see homeless animals and seeing animals being put to sleep because nobody wants them. I love what Karen and I do, we do it out of love, there is no paydays, no day offs, no stress free days, what we get is pure satisfaction that we saved a life and we enriched two lives, a human and a furry friends life. Since Jan 13 we have adopted 610 cats and 1 puppy and we have over 100 animals at the shelter. We are trying to implement a TNR program in regards to the homeless cats in Cessnock where we will trap, neuter them and let them go if we cant rehabilitate them. They will keep being fed by Jenny and in turn will keep the mice and rats at bay and eventually they will die out but more importantly they wont be breeding. We try our best to keep to ourselves, we try our best to get along with everyone but you know what? We didnt start this fight and nothing has been more clearer to us at this rescue than the animals need us more than ever so by God we wont run away from a fight either. We are NOT closing our doors. To those who think this is childish, Im sorry you feel that way and we will be sorry to loose you as a supporter but if you believe in something you should stand tall. There are not enough rescues now for all the animals so fight we must. To the likes of Cessnock City Council - Take me to court then, I will fight you all the way to preserve our rescue To Shae Wallace, your entitled to your opinion but to come onto our page and tell us to f##k you and bag us out, walk a day in our shoes. Your not welcome here so please dont bother commenting again and Im your words (only nicer), screw you! Everyone else - Thank you for the wonderful support❤️ Dee, Kaz, Heidi, Edwina and Don
