Delbert Thomas Woods of Strange Creek, departed this life and went to be in a better place September 08, 2014. He was born December 01, 1941 at Strange Creek a son of the late Charles Allen and Zella Bennett Woods. Delbert loved his family and his church. He attended Strange Creek Church. He operated a dozer for 42 years on various construction jobs and strip mines. He loved to hunt and looked forward to deer season. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald and Doyle “Buck” Woods and three sisters; Ernestean Woods, Phyllis Sparkes and Shirley McLaughlin. Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Gloria Vaughan Woods; Brothers: Darrell and Delmas of Ravenswood, Dorles of Dille, Demil of TX, Dencil of Strange Creek and Dana of Idaho; and one sister, Louise Samples of Mt. Lookout. Also surviving Daughter: Kimberly Groves of Strange Creek; sons: Randy (Chrystal) of Buckhannon, Brent (Charity) of Strange creek and John (Allison) of Morgantown; Nine grandchildren, one step granddaughter and three great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed, but our loss is Heaven’s gain. Service will be 2 PM Friday, September 12, 2014 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Jason Belt officiating. Burial will be in the Talbert Cemetery, Strange Creek. Friends may call three hours prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice Care, PO Box 323, Burnsville, WV 26335.
