Delighted to be included on the Galway Heritage Poster with a poem Tribetown (Ill put the text below from my new Salmon Poetry collection What Our Shoes Say About Us) and to be invited to deliver a lecture on Oscar Wildes western literary influences as part of the forthcoming International Heritage Conference in the Town Hall at the end of September. Reading the poem in Charlie Byrnes Bookshop. TRIBETOWN Days when the soft mists wait off shore and the sun arrives to fill this place with jigs and reels drawing the chill from the old limestone youth sprawls in tribal circles with banjos, drums and didgeridoos, strange rhythms picked up on walkabout. Here the world finds space to draw its breath, and the truce holds, while the river tumbles by like a Macnas parade. In the Square, the sculpted sails hold steady, frozen in their hookers curve and nobody is waiting for the spell to break.
