Democracy for betterment of ruler or citizens : Answer is just one -it is for the citizens . Then why benefit of doubt to tainted contestants . Are we deprived of good people . A person who is given responsibility to rule from any platform should be with absolute credibility . A person aspiring to get in Defence Services is not given the job , if he has any medical deficiency , even if of the nature that it is not going to affect his capability of any kind . Reason : Chance to serve is given , not to aspirations of contestant but according to stringent standards of services. Similarly the responsibility to rule cant be given to a person whose credibility is doubtful . One more comment : Responsibility of Election Commission -- Declare to Public : 1 . Assets of contestants . 2 . Any criminal / civil / financial case of contestants . 3 . Income tax Return of contestants .
