Demolition Halted In an effort to save a 100-year-old house in Guancheng from demolition, an instructor and students from the Dongguan University of Technology redrew the building’s blueprint in July. Known as the Tan Mansion, the family home was built at the beginning of the 20th century by a local that had worked overseas. Yuan Yufeng, the instructor, and four students from the architecture department brought their equipment in July to assess the building that they say is a combination of local and Western architecture designs. The next step, Yuan said is to raise funds to renovate the house and open a section of the building into a public space for cultural exchange.
