Den Interview mam Damien Raths op Englesch. There is no need for professionals to work in a professional way Two weeks ago, we announced a partnership between Avenir Beggen and Standard de Liège. Both clubs will cooperate, especially in the development of the youth. Our chairman of Avenir Beggen, Damien Raths, explained to us in more detail what thr cooperation will look like. Beggen received a lot of attention two weeks ago by signing a cooperation contract with Standard de Liège. How did it happen that this contract could be signed? D.Raths: „I am often abroad to visit different professional clubs to see how they work and how they are organized. I also focus on the youth sections of the clubs. There is no need for professionals to work in a professional way. Furthermore, I know the main physiotherapist of the professional team of Standard de Liège quite well.“ How will this cooperation work in practice? And what are the advantages for both clubs in the partnership? D.Raths: „This partnership is an excellent opportunity for Avenir Beggen and our Centre de Formation (Youth Development Section), founded in 2013. Our youth team managers will go to Liège for various training and workshops, and if it happens that we have a very talented young player in Beggen, willing and able to become a professional footballer, we have a perfect partner able to help this young player to realise his dream. Of course, the big team experience of Standard de Liège will also be a great help to us. Furthermore, we plan to work together in international tournaments, to organise them, but also to get invitations to give our youth teams the chance to participate in tournaments abroad. Of course, this partnership also gives us the opportunity to show our youth players the „Enfer Rouche“ in Sclessin, (the stadium of Standard de Liège) and the great atmosphere in that stadium. So we can showour youth players how far they can go when they work very hard on the pitch. All in all, we plan to have regular exchanges in this partnership.“ Why is Standard de Liège in your opinion the ideal partner club for Avenir Beggen? D.Raths: „Since I’ve become chairman of Avenir Beggen in 2013, I’ve a big goal: to make Beggen the most successful club in Luxembourg again. To reach this goal, I do not want to focus solely on the first team, but especially in youth development. In a couple of years, the best young football players in Luxembourg should be playing for Avenir Beggen. Beside football skills, the mentality and professional attitude are completely required to reach that goal. The whole mentality needs to change and we need to have very ambitious goals in order to progress.
