Department of Science and Technology vide Office Memorandum No.SR S9Z-09/12012 dated 21.10.2014 announced enhancement of fellowship from Rs.16000 to Rs.25000 for JRF and from Rs.18000 to rs.28000 for SRF and Rs.36000 to Rs.40000 for RAs. The last enhancement was made 31.03.2010. ICAR followed the Office memorandum of DST vide OM dated 31.03.2010 and announced its enhancement only for SRF working under ICAR funded schemes /projects throughout India. The rate of enhancement of SRF under ICAR funded schemes were enhanced From Rs 12000 to Rs 16000 for first two years and Rs 18000 for third year for agriculture disciplines and for Veterinary Rs.18000 for first two years Rs.20000 in third year. That is clear that ICAR did not announce enhancement of fellowship for Junior and Senior Research fellows pursuing MSc and PhD under ICAR and Demmed Universities in various disciplines since 01.04.2007. AIASA has obtained ICAR Office Memorandum no F.No.15(1)/2010-A&P(edu) dated 26.10.2010. Further, the students pursuing the MSc and PhD degree in premier institutes are kept in lower slabs. The Department of Science & Technology has completely neglected the agriculture students community as per latest OM dated 21.10.2014. Agriculture including Veterinary Sciences are professional disciplines and must be kept at par with Medical/Engineering Professions. govt can not discriminate among the professions for awarding different slabs of fellowship. As per Delhi High court Judgement dated 14.10.2014 , government has to treat veterinary profession at par with medical and the same rate of fellowship must be given to them. The agriculture discipline must be given professional status at par with medical/veterinary and same rate of fellowship must be given to agricos throughout India by ICAR. A detailed memorandum will be submitted by AIASA to Honble Prime Minister, Honble Union Agriculture Minister and Honble MOS(A). All agricos may continue to posts comments on the facebook wall of PM, Agriculture Minister and Minister of State to press the demand for enhancement of fellowship at par with medical and engineering
