Deputy Commissioner Brock Hill will hold a community event Friday, May 16 to formally introduce James Wilkinson -- the newly appointed manager of Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park. A casual meet and greet will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Meeman-Shelby Forest’s visitor center, located at 910 Riddick Road in Millington. Following the meet and greet, visitors will have the opportunity to hear from Wilkinson and Deputy Commissioner Hill. Wilkinson began his career with Tennessee State Parks as a seasonal ranger aid at Paris Landing State Park, while earning his degree in Natural Resources Management from the University of Tennessee, Martin. In 2003, he joined Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park as a park ranger. Wilkinson has served as interim park manager since November 2013, replacing former manager Steve Smith who was recently named East Tennessee Interpretative Specialist.
