Despite the half hearted denials Chelsea star heading towards exit door Juan Mata’s future at Chelsea seems to be getting more uncertain by the minute. Despite repeated claims by Jose Mourinho that the player is an integral part of the club, new signings coupled with Mourinho’s inclination to keep the player on the bench has given fuel to rumours of an exit. While the player seems to be content at the club, Spanish giants Atletico Madrid seem to think that they can snap him up this summer. According to Spanish daily AS, Atletico have launched a bid to bring the player back to Spain on a season long loan and have sent representatives to London to hold talks with the Blues. While other clubs including Barcelona were believed to be interested, Atletico seem to have stolen the march by acting with alacrity. With the World Cup looming, the promise of more first team chances may be enticing for Mata. However, Mata’s departure will significantly weaken the Blues’ squad strength and Mourinho may not be willing to let the player leave, at least this summer. For now though this deal hangs in the balance and an exit may purely depend on the number of players that Mourinho is able to bring in before the transfer window closes and the loan fee that Atletico are willing to offer.
