Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad have charged two men – both members of ‘Brothers for Life’ – with the murder of 50-year-old Joseph Antoun, who died after being shot in Strathfield last month. About 9.45pm (Monday 16 December 2013), Mr Antoun was inside his home on Jersey Road when he answered a knock at his front door. Upon opening the door, he was shot. Emergency services were called to the home where paramedics attempted to revive Mr Antoun, however his injuries proved fatal. Detectives from the Homicide Squad and Burwood Local Area Command formed Strike Force Kirkland to investigate the shooting and earlier today (Tuesday 21 January 2013) arrested a 25-year-old man at a facility in Silverwater. He has been charged with murder. The 25 year old has been remanded in custody to appear in Burwood Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 22 January 2014). Today’s arrest follows the arrest of a 24-year-old man in Parramatta last Thursday (16 January 2014). The 24 year old was charged with murder before appearing in front of Parramatta Local Court. He was refused bail and is next due to appear at Burwood Local Court on 17 March 2014. Detectives will allege that both men are members of the Blacktown chapter of ‘Brothers for Life’. The investigation by Strike Force Kirkland continues.
